The exhibition Echoes of the Tide centers on this concept, highlighting both the expansive nature of space and the breadth of perspectives it encompasses. It delves into how artists employ calligraphy to interact with the imposing white walls and the diverse viewpoints stemming from various cultural origins. Featuring four artists—BU Zi, LEE Mau-cheng, Hiroshi WADA, and YU Tung-Sheng—the exhibition sees them introduce innovative approaches to traditional calligraphy through variations in size, script, style, content, character count, colors, and materials, revealing the multifarious faces of contemporary calligraphy art. LIU Xiaodong’s Solo Exhibition
ESLITE GALLERY Beijing Sep 6 - Oct 20, 2024 LIU Xiaodong, one of the most prominent realist painters in contemporary China, will hold a solo exhibition at ESLITE GALLERY Beijing in late summer and early fall. The exhibition features three of Liu’s series, respectively created in Northeast China, in the casinos in Macau, and during the Dajia Matsu Pilgrimage in Taiwan. TSONG PU: OFF-ROAD AURA
Oct 28, 2023 - Mar 31, 2024 TSONG Pu has been invited to present a grand solo exhibition, Off-Road Aura, at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. This exhibit traces the artist's transformative voyage across four decades, from the 1980s to the present. On display are his emblematic signature pieces and art installations resonating with modern-day happenings. SHIH Jui-Jen, the curator, elaborates: "Off-Road Aura" explores how Tsong Pu, under the premise of constructing his personal artistic career through the minimalist aesthetics of modern art, has developed numerous "contemporary" creations that resonate or dialogue between his thoughts and contemporary society. TSONG Pu's Solo Exhibition - Distant Proximity
Dec 3 - 31, 2022 In December, ESLITE GALLERY is presenting a solo exhibition Distant Proximity by National Award for Arts winner TSONG Pu. It will feature his new graphic and three-dimensional works created in the past two years, including Three Bamboo Joints, a nearly 5-meter-tall installation to be displayed in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. TSONG Pu’s abstract creations are deeply influenced by minimalism, as he focuses on the experimentation and exploration of materiality, breaking free of established norms to build his unique personal style using a blend of rational and poetic vocabularies. Featuring 15 new works in the Santa Embryo series from 2022, Müllerian’s Garden Sheep Wandering series from 2013 and Müllerian’s Garden Still-Life series from 2016, a total of 28 works will be on display. Müllerian’s Garden is at the intersection of embryology and theology, exploring dualism and duality of life and truth through art. Jul 2 - 30, 2022 A joint exhibition of CHENG Po-Tsung and LIU Wen Hao at ESLITE GALLERY will be on view starting July 2, 2022. Respectively born in the 80s and 90s, CHENG and LIU both graduated with a degree in fine arts. Their paintings either present the images flowing in their heads in everyday life or are creative approaches that explore and echo their life experiences. Kristycharay Solo Exhibition
May 4 - 28, 2022 A solo exhibition by Kristycharay opens on May 4 at ESLITE GALLERY, from small sketches of still lifes to large paintings of portraits, Kristycharay wields acrylic paints and charcoal pen to depict her observations of the people and objects around her. Kristycharay laid the foundation for her painting skills during her high school years in New York. Even though she is now a woman of many hats, she still finds painting therapeutic. In more recent years, she has been focusing more on portraiture, noting that “There aren’t many oriental artists painting portraits of oriental figures, so I thought someone should do it as a record of people in my time!” Read more -
Yi-Chen HUNG
Apr 2 - 23, 2022 ESLITE GALLERY is proud to present a solo exhibition of late artist Yi-Chen HUNG starting April 2, featuring nearly 30 creations from her student years in the UK (around 1997) all the way up to 2010. The exhibition provides a glimpse into the evolution trajectory of the artist’s oeuvre from pure geometric abstract painting (on canvas), canvas molding, to the juxtaposition of her canvas works and coated fiberglass (FRP) replicas. This is also ESLITE GALLERY’s second presentation of HUNG’s works after "Transgress and Reclaim: Yi-Chen HUNG, Selected Works 1994-2011" held in 2012 in memory of the early passing of this talented artist.

Curated by Taiwanese artist YEH Jen-Kun, the exhibition features a total of features 40 plus works by 4 Taiwanese artists CHANG Ching Wen, CHEN Yi Chia, SU Fan Hsuan and YEH Jen-Kun and 3 Japanese artists Ryo SHINAGAWA, Hiroyuki MORI, and Masayoshi NOJO. These seven artists are not only accomplished in the use of techniques such as Nihonga and ink wash, but they draw from tradition to search for artistic vocabulary corresponding to contemporary culture. SU Wong-shen’s solo exhibition
"And Then" Nov 20 - Dec 18, 2021 Artist SU Wong-shen’s solo exhibition And Then, set to open on November 20, 2021 at the ESLITE GALLERY, features a total of 19 paintings created from 2017 to 2021. In 2017, SU Wong-shen moved from Mingde New Village, a naval dependent’s housing area in Zuoying, Kaohsiung where he lived for nearly 20 years, to Anping, Tainan. His once accustomed village-scape was replaced by the ocean skyline and the coastal fish farms and salt fields. Seeing the COVID pandemic ravaging the world and impacting everyone since 2020, SU, always concerned about social and environmental issues, has incorporated the world under COVID into his paintings, using “animals” to reenact this collective memory.

Song of Myself - Life and Death Jun 18 - Jul 11, 2021 KU lived a life of carefree bliss. The colors of his later paintings became brighter and more vibrant. Even in the face of illness, art remained his spiritual support through the difficulties. He said: “If one has to choose a way of life, then mine would be painting. Painting is my all—my thoughts, my emotions, all the details of my life are in it.” Regardless of the phase of his creative opus, KU's works always exude a strong sense of literary quality and a reflection on life. Song of Myself - Closet May 1 - Jun 20, 2021 Throughout KU’s creative career, he had always remained true to himself, focusing only on the exploration of “humans” as his main subject of expression. Pushing it to new heights, his depictions of the male body—let it be running, flying or jumping—reveal more than just vigorous vitality, but also hint at the inner complexity of the mind, as if trying to escape from a world bogged down by constraints. In his paintings, KU never shied away from delving into his same-sex affections. The second sub-theme Closet not only illustrates his sexual orientation, but also expresses his free will to show his true self with his brush. Read more

Fu-sheng KU 1935-2017
Fu-sheng KU - Song of Myself - Years Apr 17 - Jun 20, 2021 KU and Pai met when they were young as they were both descendants of military generals. They became close friends and even in-laws later in life. The two like-minded friends were confidants who talked about everything. KU's paintings can be found gracing the cover of Pai's masterpieces Crystal Boys and Taipei People. Pai also collects many of KU's works. The first sub-theme—Youth—kicks off the Song of Myself online exhibition by centering around the friendship between these two pioneers of modern art and modern literature in Taiwan. Read more -

LIN Yen Wei
Nov 6 - Dec 13, 2020 ESLITE GALLEY is pleased to present “LIN Yen Wei” from November 14 to December 13,
2020, featuring new works made in 2020 by the artist. Lin Yen Wei is best known for his
recreations of objects found in public places that are painted by amateur painters through
an integration of photography and painting. “Just Like You the Way You Are” and
“Plaything Study,” two series shown in this exhibition, are Lin’s portrayals of cement animal
sculptures and plastic toy animals, which he captured by the camera, then depicted on the
canvas to show their bulgy eyes, weathered bodies and protruding lines running down the
center of their faces in extreme details. With his work, Lin proposes an amalgamated
artistic language to engender a discourse on multiple levels. Read more -

featuring the artist’s signature “Symbol” series as well as the latest “Ambiguous Dimensions”
series. An on-going exploration for two decades, the “Symbol” series on view will provide a
glimpse of Wu Tung-Lung’s continual visual explorations in spatial depths and imaginary spaces,
while the “Ambiguous Dimensions” series developed from Wu’s residency experience in Germany
